Artists’ Studio

Every Vaillancourt chalkware piece is hand-painted by our skilled artists in Massachusetts. Experience the Artists’ Studio and witness fine art chalkware come to life. […]

As part of the Vaillancourt Experience, the Artists’ Studio offers a rare glimpse into the craftsmanship behind each piece we create.

It is here, within our Sutton studio, that every Vaillancourt fine art chalkware collectible is brought to life. From casting to the final brushstroke, each piece is individually hand-painted by our team of skilled artisans—many of whom have been with us for decades. Their experience, patience, and attention to detail are what transform a historic medium into what we define today as fine art chalkware.

While visitors are no longer able to take guided tours through the Artists’ Studio, we continue to offer opportunities to observe the creative process. From designated viewing areas, guests can quietly watch as our artists work throughout the day—each focusing on a different stage of the painting process, allowing the collection to take shape one layer at a time.

This approach ensures that the studio remains a working environment where our artists can maintain the level of focus and care required for their craft. As a small, American company, the well-being of our team is essential to preserving the quality and integrity of our work.

For those looking to further understand the process, group visits may include a video presentation that offers a deeper look into the creation of our chalkware—complementing a visit to the Retail Gallery and the Christmas Museum.

Whether viewed in person or experienced through these presentations, the Artists’ Studio remains at the heart of what we do—where tradition, craftsmanship, and artistry come together to create work that will endure for generations.
