Vaillancourt Folk Art of Sutton, MA has officially agreed to work with the American Red Cross and contribute to the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund through its sales of their previously sold out chalkware Texas Santa. To contribute to the American Red Cross fund, Vaillancourt will be temporarily re-issuing their 2005 version of the Texas Santa as signed artist proofs with 100% of the after-tax net profits directly benefiting the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund. The Texas Santa was originally designed by Judi Vaillancourt in 2005 as a limited edition exclusive for a now out-of-business store in Texas. The piece embodies the spirit of Texas through the imagery, colors, and symbolism depicted on his coat and throughout the pieces’ design. With a large collector base in Texas, the original version of this piece was introduced as an edition of 100 and was quick to sell out. “Having a strong collector base in Texas, we joined the country in a feeling of shock as the imagery of Hurricane Harvey began to come into light,” Gary Vaillancourt said. “Our company is about the spirit of the holidays, the tradition of Christmas, so to be able to do anything that contributes to helping those in need is critical for us. We’re happy to be able to team up with a credible organization that will ensure the money is used to help those in need.” The reissued version is available as a preorder status and will be available until December 31st. Delivery of this piece will start in January and will continue through the first quarter of 2018, shipped in the order in which they were sold. Vaillancourt has a long history or philanthropy having teamed up with the Starlight Foundation in 1990 to help critically ill children and their families get through whatever treatment they were undergoing. Since then, Vaillancourt has helped hundreds of children’s at Worcester’ UMass Memorial Children’s Medical Center through the Child’s Life Artist In Residence Program. ### About Vaillancourt Folk Art Vaillancourt Folk Art, based in Sutton, Massachusetts, is considered one of the last “Made in America” Christmas studios.
