The 28th annual Starlight Santa is depicted in a brilliant nights sky wintry scene. His coat is painted with trees and a starry winter’s night sky, over his shoulder is a sack filled with wishes to be granted on Christmas day. Behind this noble Santa is a sled being dragged through the snow with a Christmas tree with gifts under it. With sharp blue eyes, this Starlight Santa epitomizes the hope and dreams of Christmas as he trudges through his own obstacles to deliver a magical Christmas to those who need it most. Since 1990, the annual Starlight Santa has been painted in limited quantities with a portion of the proceeds benefiting UMass Memorial’s Children’s Medical Center’s Child Life program—dedicated to improving the quality of life for children undergoing medical treatments. The pieces are painted up until Christmas Day before being retired never to be produced again.
