Knecht Ruprecht, a cherished 17th century character from German Christmas folklore, is often seen by children as the companion of Saint Nicholas or Santa Claus. With his bundle of birch branches and sack of treats, Knecht Ruprecht rewards the well-behaved and disciplines those who have been naughty, embodying the spirit of judgment and reward during the holiday season. Originally introduced in 1987, this black coat version is an alternative to the Knecht Ruprecht in red.
