Wearing a green coat and red mittens, this charming collectible Santa will stay warm on a cold winter night. He carries a gold lantern to light his way. In centuries past, lanterns were crucial for safe travel when there was no moonlight. Though Santa Claus did not become part of New World Christmas traditions until the 19th century, this Santa figurine takes artistic license to cheerfully honor St. Nick. Many examples of chalkware and Santa chocolate molds can be found in the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation collections. This jolly fellow is ready to share these traditions with you.
