Commemorating America 250

As we reflect on our roots and look forward to our country’s Semiquincentennial, we’re filled with immense pride for how far America has come. At Vaillancourt Folk Art, our story began nearly 50 years ago during another milestone moment—the American Bicentennial. It was in that spirit of heritage, craftsmanship, and patriotism that Judi Vaillancourt revived the lost art of 19th-century chalkware, giving life to what would become the finest Christmas studio in the world.

Now, as America approaches its 250^th anniversary in 2026, we are honored to commemorate this historic moment with two extraordinary chalkware pieces that celebrate our shared history and national values: Founding Freedoms Santa and the Liberty Bell Santa and two alternative glass ornament versions: American Santa with Eagle and Santa with Liberty Bell.

These pieces are more than just festive decorations—they are tributes to the courage, vision, and enduring spirit of America’s founding. Each was designed by Judi with the intent to blend the joy of the Christmas season with the reverence of our nation’s legacy. True to our values, both chalkware are completely made in America: the plaster is mined in the Midwest, the oil paints are produced in Massachusetts, and every detail is painted by hand in our Sutton studios using both antique and original moulds. The two ornaments, mouth-blown Polish glass, are hand painted with extraordinary detail.

As the official America 250 Commission describes, this anniversary is “an opportunity to pause and reflect on our nation’s past, honor the contributions of all Americans, and look ahead toward a vibrant future.” We couldn’t agree more. Just as our ancestors once sought meaning through folk art and handcrafted goods, we believe that today’s collectors—especially those who understand the importance of tradition—deserve a tangible connection to that patriotic spirit.
