After graduating with a BFA in illustration from Brigham Young University in 1996, Darren Gygi began his art career as an editorial illustrator. Darren approached each editorial assignment as a fine art commission and prepped his surface, took photo reference, and used oil paints to that end. After several years of this approach, Darren’s skills became tremendously refined. He began painting commissioned portraits and displaying his work in galleries in the western United States. In 2009, in an effort to make his beautiful artwork more readily available, Darren created the Darren Gygi Home Collection, a line of home decor artwork with wide-ranging appeal.
