Originally introduced in 1989, this small (5.57″) Russian Father Christmas has been reissued for a limited time to celebrate the 2017 Twelfth Night celebration. Painted in a historic green coat with white fur, this piece emphasizes the painting techniques that were “new” to the Vaillancourt Folk Art line in the late 1980s. With a subtle metallic gold paint for the buttons and dark grey beard, this Russian Father Christmas shares both image and tradition of a historic Eastern European Christmas.
Vaillancourt is a family owned business located in Sutton, Massachusetts and is best known for their handmade and hand painted chalkware figures. These figures are made using vintage and antique chocolate, candy, and ice cream moulds. The Vaillancourt’s have the largest private collection in the USA and have been creating these heirloom masterpieces meant to be passed down from generation to generation since 1984.
