This piece is a special piece for Vaillancourt Folk Art—the vintage mould was one of the first three in the Vaillancourt personal collection and was used to create one of the first chalkware santas. One year after the originals success, still with a limited mould variety, this piece was created using a cooler palate of dark blues and browns. Russian in origin, the coat and simple dot pattern represents the traditional look and feel of an European Father Christmas.
This piece has been re-issued for our 30th anniversary in 2014, with only 30 having been made available.
Vaillancourt is a family owned business located in Sutton, Massachusetts and is best known for their handmade and hand painted chalkware figures. These figures are made using vintage and antique chocolate, candy, and ice cream moulds. The Vaillancourt’s have the largest private collection in the USA and have been creating these heirloom masterpieces meant to be passed down from generation to generation since 1984.
