Description

Papier-mâché Made in Germany
Seasons: Christmas, Winter

Dressed with a red felt coat with traces of white glass mica Santa Claus trudges with heavy boots through the forest. In his arms that are movable he carries a fir twig out of paper. A bulging bag full of gifts is on his back. His striking face is framed by hair and a beard made of real sheep wool. All over coat belt bag and fir branch are hand-carved and hand-painted wooden miniature-animals. The belt is a hemp string from one of the last Thuringian roperies. The Santa is packed in a stained wooden box with an MAROLIN certificate of authenticity.

About Marolin Manufaktur

Founded in 1900, Richard Mahr of Steinach, Germany created the finely detailed papier-mâché figurines that have since become internationally known and collected. Marolin figurines are hand composed using a combination of kaolin, chalk, paper fibers, organic paste, and clay before being hand poured and painted. These figurines, not unlike Vaillancourt’s Chalkware, are known for their artistic quality and detail.
