During the seventeenth-century, it was common to find Apple cones decorating the lavish banquets of London. While the apple cone was a functional design—its base often was a pineapple shaped into a cone shape with its top leaves placed at on top with fresh apples and variegated holly, boxwood, and magnolia leaves to fill in the spaces. Depicted in early Dutch paintings, Charles II would prominently display them during the holidays. Today, as this Santa lights the way from past Colonial traditions into today, he is holding a shimmering gold apple cone in his hand. Decorated with holly and ivy leaves on his white coat, this Santa is ready for the holidays.
