This charming collectible Santa celebrates a treasured annual tradition. He is holding holiday decorations and his back features a fireworks display over the Governor’s Palace. During Colonial Williamsburg’s annual Grand Illumination each December, holiday decorations festoon the doorways, music fills the air, the scent of delicious food wafts from taverns and cider stands, and the whole day is capped with stunning fireworks launched simultaneously from three locations. Though Santa Claus did not become part of New World Christmas traditions until the 19th century, this Santa figurine takes artistic license to cheerfully honor St. Nick. Many examples of chalkware and Santa chocolate molds can be found in the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation collections.

Designed exclusively for Colonial Williamsburg, hand-crafted and meticulously hand-painted in the USA. Signed “Vaillancourt” and dated.
